A basement on Madeira Island was the starting point for four friends — now five — to deepen their bond through music.

NAPA’s sound took shape somewhere between the energy of Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the melodic sensibilities of The Beatles, and the poetic intimacy of Caetano Veloso and Tom Jobim.YouTube unexpectedly broadened the reach of their songs, winning over listeners both on and beyond the island. They traded English for their mother tongue, and their grandmother’s basement for a recording studio.

In 2019, they recorded their debut album Senso Comum at Black Sheep Studios in Sintra. Its infectious melodies and raw, melancholic spirit slowly found their way into the hearts of Portuguese music lovers.

In 2023, the band released their second LP, Logo Se Vê, this time with a more mature sonic identity. The new record challenges the premises set by Senso Comum, bringing greater complexity and inventiveness to its song structures. The band’s romantic pop bloodline still runs through the album, but its appetite for exploring new rhythms and musical textures is unmistakable.
